Travel Policy Update 08.10.2021

IEA Travel Policy
Updated 8/2/2021

If a student or staff person has travelled out of state, for more than 24 hours, in the 10 days prior to returning to school (8/20-8/29 for most staff, 8/22-8/31 for students), the IEA Travel Policy below will apply.

This Travel Policy will also be in effect for the school year; IEA will update this policy in accordance with the State of Connecticut and CDC guidelines and recommendations. All travelers are encouraged to visit the CT Travel Advisory website for the most current state guidelines.

Vaccinated students and staff will be able to return to school without testing or quarantining. They should continue to self-monitor for symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms. IEA may ask for proof of vaccination or a negative viral test.

Unvaccinated students and staff must get tested for COVID-19 after they return home (either PCR or rapid antigen testing is acceptable) and stay out of school until they receive a negative test result back from the laboratory. Test results must be provided to the nurse before the student or staff person returns to the building. Even after testing, they should continue to self-monitor for symptoms; isolate and get tested if they develop symptoms.

If an unvaccinated person chooses not to take a COVID-19 test, they should stay home and self-quarantine for a full 10 days after returning home. They may return to IEA on the 11th day, as long as they have no symptoms.

If an unvaccinated person feels they engaged in riskier travel, it is advised they follow the CDC’s recommendations by obtaining a test between days 3-5 after returning home and quarantining for a full 7 days, even with a negative COVID-19 test result; or quarantining for a full 10 days without testing.

International Travel

If you have travelled internationally during the 10 days prior to returning to the building, you must follow the CDC guidelines.

Vaccinated individuals must obtain a test 3-5 days after returning to the United States and provide their negative test results to the school nurse before returning to IEA. They should continue to self-monitor for symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms. IEA may ask for proof of vaccination.

Unvaccinated individuals must obtain a test between days 3-5 after returning home and quarantining for a full 7 days, even with a negative COVID-19 test result; or quarantining for a full 10 days without testing.
