While one-on-one and student-to-student discourse are critical components of learning and social success at IEA, today’s technology offers additional tools to explore and support academics, speech and language therapy, and virtual learning experiences. Technology stimulates creativity, and supports success via individually paced programming and progress monitoring.
Assistive technology equipment allows access to digital instructional media for every student. Classrooms are equipped with PCs, iPads, interactive Promethean Boards ™ and individualized assistive technology. Recent fundraising efforts have resulted in the upcoming purchase of an iPad for every IEA student to use while on campus; each iPad will be customized with software that coincides with the student's specific needs and academic plan. Software may include Inspiration, Kidspiration, Cowriter, Kurzweil, Dragon-Speaks, Bookshare, Lexia Reading, Symphony Math, and many more. Faculty and administration continually explore and review emerging technologies to determine applicability for IEA students.
